In 1978, Paul and Lloyd Hess, owners of Hess's Butcher Shop, had the vision of starting a small catering business specializing in pig roasts and the best barbecue in Lancaster County. Thirty-one years later, that dream was not only fulfilled but exceeded as Hess's is now a booming, well-known catering business in Central Pennsylvania. Although Hess's is a local favorite for barbeque, they are also a popular pick for up-scale weddings. hess's now caters well over 70 events a month, ranging from private parties and large corporate events, to exclusive, full-china weddings. Their secret to success is built on personalized, friendly service and quality cuisine. In the last ten years, Hess's has begun participating in the national competitive barbeque circuit as well. Between their two teams, Hess's has brought home ten grand champion trophies, Pennsylvania cups, and more awards than they have room for in the shop lobby!
